Kansas high school football prospect Drake DeBaun has flipped his commitment. DeBaun, who will be a senior at Shawnee Mission South High School in the fall, announced he is now going to Iowa State.

DeBaun, a three-star recruit, had originally committed to play college football in the ACC for Wake Forest. He posted on social media that he will now head to Ames and the Big 12.

The 6-foot-6, 240-pounder held offers from schools such as Army, Ilinois State, Lindenwood, Northern Iowa, South Dakota and South Dakota State along with the Demon Deacons and Cyclones. He is ranked as the No. 12 tight end prospect in Kansas and 65th overall at his position for the Class of 2026 by 247Sports.
With the commitment of DeBaun, the Iowa State recruiting class now sits at 17 for that season. He is the first tight end and the fourth skill position player joining Caleb Francois of Minnesota, Milan Parris out of Ohio and Jeffrey Roberts from Iowa.
As a junior, DeBaun caught 34 passes for almost 400 yards with five touchdowns in just nine games. He is also a member of the Shawnee Mission South basketball team.
