Iowa gets key commit for 2026 with four-star prospect image

Tennessee high school four-star prospect Trey Thompson will get his collegiate basketball career started this fall instead of next. Thompson, who would have been a senior at Greeneville this year, reclassified and committed to the University of Iowa.

The 6-foot-8 talent joins a roster loaded with transfers under first-year head coach Ben McCollum. The former Drake head coach brought in several experienced players, but has a roster on the cusp of graduating compared to having extended college careers.

Thompson changes that, as he selected the Hawkeyes over offers from programs such as Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Clemson, Purdue, Connecticut and Kansas among others.

On3 ranks Thompson as the No. 81 overall prospect in the Class of 2026, the third-ranked player in his state and the 12th rated power forward overall.
