For Darion Jones, the path before him is one he wants to pave himself. That is why the top Nebraska high school prospect committed to the University of Iowa to play football.

Jones, who will be a senior at Omaha North High School in the fall, gave Kirk Ferentz and the Hawkeyes his commitment recently. His brother, Donovan, is currently a member of the Nebraska Huskers secondary.

Ranked as the No. 2 prospect in the state of Nebraska by recruiting services, Jones is a 6-foot-1, 170-pound cornerback. He held offers from Nebraska, Iowa State, Kansas State and Minnesota among his 13 total.

Last year, he was a two-way star for Omaha North, recording 47 tackles with eight interceptions on defense. Jones also caught 43 passes for almost 800 yards and 11 touchdowns as a wide receiver, adding four returns for scores in the kickoff and punt return game.

He told Hawkeye Report that "the opportunity at Iowa is amazing, just seeing how many of their defensive backs have gone on to the NFL. That's the dream right there."

That list includes Cooper DeJean, a small-school Iowa standout who returned an interception for a touchdown in the Super Bowl last year for the Philadelphia Eagles.
