For Libby Dix, the thrill of scoring another pin on the wrestling mats won out over competing in track and field.
Dix, a Mount Vernon High School graduate, committed to the University of Iowa wrestling program on Monday. She had originally planned to join the University of Northern Iowa track and field team after graduating.

This past winter, Dix captured her second straight Iowa high school state wrestling championship this past winter. USA Wrestling has her ranked as the No. 6 prospect at 190 pounds.
Along with her multiple state wrestling championships, Dix won a state discus title in the spring and is a starter for the Mustangs softball team.
The Hawkeyes have already added the likes of Isabella Marie Gonzales, Adriana Palumbo, Bella Williams, Samantha Sachs and Harlee Miller through 2025 recruiting.
