“It is truly my honor to announce I’ll be committing to Oklahoma State, Go Pokes!!!” Overton wrote.
Overton’s commit makes it a full circle moment, as the Cowboys were the first school to give him an offer. He received nearly 30 offers since then, but Overton believed in Oklahoma State trying to turn things around after last season’s 3-9 finish.
“One of the biggest reasons why I chose Oklahoma State is my love for the coaching staff,” Overton told On3.com. “I love the town of Stillwater and the environment around there, too. Also, the people there stand out to me and played a role in my decision.
“I like Coach (Mike) Gundy a lot. He’s super real. He and Oklahoma State have been super real to me.”
Last season, Overton helped Owasso to a 12-1 record and an appearance in the Class 6AI championship game, where the Rams lost in overtime to Bixby. Owasso had reached the title game after a triple-overtime semifinal win against area rival Jenks.
Overton is the second high-profile Class of 2026 defensive lineman in the past three days to commit to Oklahoma State. On Wednesday, the Cowboys secured a commitment from one of the top Class of ’26 recruits in Arkansas, Cross County lineman Danny Beale.
