Ricklan Holmes II, an incoming senior linebacker at Del City, announced on his X page Sunday night that he has committed to play at New Mexico.

Holmes, a 6-foot, 215-pound three-star prospect, finished his junior season recording 156 total tackles, including 48 for loss. He also had 17 sacks and four defensive touchdowns, including a fumble return and returning an interception 97 yards during the Eagles’ Class 5A quarterfinal playoff win against Bishop McGuinness.
In his career at Del City, starting since his freshman season, Holmes has amassed 426 tackles and 42 sacks.
But Holmes was an impact player on offense as well last season, rushing for 945 yards, catching 11 passes for 163 yards and scoring 14 total TDs on that side of the ball.
Holmes picked New Mexico after also having received offers from several other schools, including Arizona State, Baylor, Iowa State, Oklahoma State and Tulsa.
