The St. Edmond softball team flexed their power in a big way Saturday at their home invitational.

Taking on Mason City, the Gaels scored 12 runs in the fifth on their way to an 18-3 victory. In that inning, St. Edmond senior and future University of Iowa Hawkeye Mariah Myers hit two home runs.

In the same inning.

Myers finished the game 3-for-4 with six RBI and three runs scored, as she was also walked once. The shortstop has been intentionally walked several times, racking up 38 walks on the season now.

Myers has now hit 10 home runs this year and 24 over the past two seasons since joining the Gael program.

The 5-foot-9 Myers earned 2024-25 Gatorade Iowa Softball Player of the Year honors. She was a first team all-state selection in Class 1A last year and ranked as the No. 31 prospect in the Class of 2025 by Perfect Game.
