The Iowa football team is making it a priority to land the top high school talent from within the state. After receiving commitments from Julian Manson and Kasen Thomas, the Hawkeyes have extended an offer to another.

Gavin Stecker, who will be a junior this coming fall, picked up an offer from the Hawkeyes recently. The Class of 2027 prospect out of Bettendorf High School has also received offers from Iowa State and Kansas State.

Last year, Stecker recorded 58 tackles with 7.5 for loss for the Bulldogs, one of the premier Class 5A programs in Iowa. Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 200 pounds, Stecker runs a 4.63 40-yard dash, can squat 375 pounds and deadlift 605 according to 247Sports.

Iowa might have an inside track to getting Stecker, as he told the site "My family has been Hawkeye fans, and I went to a few games growing up."

Stecker also notes that under linebacker coach Seth Wallace, the program is "an elite linebacker university, so I feel I could learn a lot."

Iowa currently has several former Iowa high school standouts on the roster including the likes of recent graduates Derek Weisskopf, Preston Ries and Cam Buffington.
