There just seems to be something about that feel of hometown pride Roman Voss feels. Voss, one of the top prospects in the state of Minnesota, could have moved to a bigger high school to compete.
Instead, he has remained true to Jackson County Central High School where he plays quarterback for a school that has an enrollment of under 300. Now, Voss has decided to stay home for his college career.
Voss committed to PJ Fleck and the University of Minnesota over an offer from Alabama. The Class of 2026 prospect also held offers from schools such as Iowa, Auburn, USC, UCLA and Wisconsin.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pound Voss has lined up all over the field for Jackson County Central including at wide receiver and tight end while also playing on defense as a safety and linebacker. He led the team to a perfect 13-0 season last year and a state championship.
At the next level, he is projected to play tight end, as he could be following in the footsteps of former Penn State standout and NFL first round pick Tyler Warren.
Warren played high school football in Virginia where he too was a quarterback. He went on to win the John Mackey Award and become an All-American for the Nittany Lions before the Indianapolis Colts selected him 14th overall in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Like Warren, Voss is a multi-sport standout for his high school, surpassing 1,000 career basketball points as a sophomore. According to 247Sports, he is the top player in Minnesota, the 12th athlete in the country and ranked in the Top 200 overall.
Voss is another top Minnesota prospect to stay home joining current safety Koi Perich who not only signed with the Gophers, but spurned offers to transfer to remain loyal to the team.
