This past weekend, four state softball championships were awarded in Maine.
The Maine Principals’ Association conducted its high school softball title games in two different locations.
In Class A, Windham recorded a 7-0 win against Edward Little while a fifth-inning run provided the difference in Medomak Valley’s 1-0 win against Hermon for the Class B title.
Then in Class C, Bucksport posted a 6-2 win against Hall-Dale, and in Class D, Buckfield recorded a shutout, defeating Penobscot Valley, 5-0.
Here are several of the top standouts who led their respective teams to MPA softball titles:
Top performers from 2025 MPA softball championship games
Yani Kostopoulos, Windham: A freshman, Kostopoulos went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored in the Class A title game.
Addison Calazzo, Windham: Calazzo, a junior, went 2-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored for the Eagles.
Kennedy Kimball, Windham: This senior ended her career with the Eagles by pitching a two-hit shutout, allowing no walks and striking out 11.
Grace Havener, Medomak Valley: A sophomore, Havener went 3-for-3 and drove in the Panthers’ lone run in their Class B championship win.
Sidney Nichols, Medomak Valley: Another sophomore for the Panthers, Nichols was the winning pitcher. She threw a three-hit shutout while walking one and striking out 12.
Kendall Simmons, Medomak Valley: Simmons, a junior, tripled and scored the only run in the Class B championship game.
Marina Keene, Bucksport: In the Class C title game, Keene went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Alivia Shute, Bucksport: A junior, Shute went 2-for-4 for the Golden Bucks.
Natalie Simpson, Bucksport: Simpson, a senior, was the winning pitcher for the Golden Bucks. She allowed two runs on four hits and struck out 12.
Carmen Crockett, Buckfield: Crockett thew a one-hit shutout in the Bucks’ Class D state title win. She retired the final 19 batters she faced and struck out 16 batters.
Taylor Harvey, Buckfield: Harvey went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored.
Brittany Carrier, Buckfield: Carrier hit a home run and drove in two runs for the Bucks.
