An exciting pitcher’s duel capped the weekend of state championship softball in Wisconsin.
In the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 1 championship game this past Saturday, Kaukauna finished off a perfect 27-0 season after edging Kenosha Bradford, 1-0, despite the Galloping Ghosts getting just one hit and striking out 18 times.
Other WIAA championship scores were: Denmark beating Jefferson, 4-1, for the Division 2 title; Poynette posting an 11-5 win against Fall Creek for the Division 3 championship; Mishicot edging Pacelli in nine innings, 1-0, to win Division 4; and in Division 5, Belmont took an 8-3 victory against Almond-Bancroft.
Here are several of the top standouts who led their respective teams to WIAA softball titles:
Top performers from 2025 WIAA softball championship games
Karly Meredith, Kaukauna: Meredith out-dueled Kenosha Bradford pitcher Brooklynn Danielson with a five-hit shutout, striking out four. She also scored the game’s lone run.
Lily Boyle, Kaukauna: Boyle had the Galloping Ghosts’ lone hit but it was all that counted, an RBI double in the top of the fourth that brought in Meredith.
Jozy Ebben, Kaukauna: From her first-base position, Ebben recorded seven put-outs, and also caught the final out to seal the Galloping Ghosts’ title and perfect season.
Shaelyn Kraschnewski, Denmark: Kraschnewski went 3-for-4 and scored a run in Denmark’s Division 2 title-game win. She also pitched the final two innings to get the save, allowing no runs on two hits, striking out two.
Macey Mleziva, Denmark: Mleziva doubled and drove in a run for the victorious Vikings.
Maggie Frank, Denmark: Frank was the winning pitcher, going the first five innings and allowing one earned run on three hits, striking out five.
Tinsley Nelson, Poynette: Nelson was 3-for-5 with a triple, an RBI and two runs scored for the Pumas in their Division 3 championship-game triumph.
Addison Mackey, Poynette: Mackey went 3-for-5 with a triple while scoring three times.
Emma Gavinski, Poynette: Gavinski also had a three-hit game for the Pumas, going 3-for-5 with a double as well as picking up two RBIs.
Kiran Sanford, Mishicot: Sanford pitched all nine innings in the Indians’ Division 4 title-game win and gave up no runs on just one hit. She also struck out 20 batters.
Sierra Skarda, Mishicot: Skarda went 2-for-4 and drove in the game’s only run.
Kasey Brouchoud, Mishicot: Brouchoud hit a double and recorded 19 put-outs from her catching position.
Carsyn Ramaker, Belmont: Ramaker was the winning pitcher, allowing one unearned run on two hits over 6 1/3 innings for the Braves in their Division 5 title-game win, striking out six. She also went 2-for-3 and scored three runs.
Lexi Riechers, Belmont: Though she didn’t record a hit, Riechers was able to drive in three runs for the Braves.
Morgan Freeman, Belmont: Freeman was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a pair of runs scored.
