Ian Premer kept both Kansas and Kansas State in the running until the very end. But the idea of running out of the tunnel in South Bend for Notre Dame was too much to ignore.

Premer, a top prospect in the Class of 2026 from Great Bend, Kansas, committed to the Irish. The 6-foot-6, 210-pound tight end also had the Jayhawks, Wildcats and Iowa State in his final four.

A three-sport standout for Great Bend High School, Premer caught 30 passes for 541 yards with eight touchdowns as a junior. He also looked solid on the defensive side of the ball, recording 50 tackles with three interceptions.

Premer is a strong athlete, as Kansas State was also interested in acquiring his services to play basketball. He is rated as the fifth-best tight end in the country by ESPN and also plays baseball for Great Bend.
