'Sick of talking about it': Marshall responds to Lachlan Galvin's departure image

In the wake of Lachlan Galvin's high-profile exit from the Wests Tigers, Benji Marshall fronted the media in Townsville.

"We want to try and make a mark on the competition this year," he said.

"The squad we've got, we're confident we can do that."

The Tigers are set to face the Cowboys on Saturday night, their first game since Galvin's release was finalised and he joined the Bulldogs on a lucrative multi-year deal.

However, Marshall was eager to shift the focus back to the task at hand, as the concord-based club look to get their season back-on-track after slipping to 12th on the premiership ladder in recent weeks.

"I guess everyone's probably a little bit sick of talking about it and it being reported," he said.

"But we're just focused on the game. I know it's a cliched thing to say, but we have to be. It's been a great week at training.

"Everyone's looking forward to just playing. We had a week off last week with the bye. The energy around the place has been really good, really positive.

"We like the players we've got, we love the squad we've got, we're excited about some of the young players coming through and for us."

When pressed on whether Galvin's exit was a source of disappointment, Marshall resisted framing the situation as a setback for the club.

"I don't know if disappointment's the word," he said.
