It was a day of repeats at the Iowa girls state soccer tournament on Saturday, as all three classes saw champions defend. The event took place in Ames with the finals being played from the Cyclone Sports Complex.

Two of the three games were decided by one goal, including a double-overtime thriller that saw Dallas Center-Grimes defeat Waverly-Shell Rock, 1-0. In the 94th minute overall, Alexandra Hofbauer got a ball past the Go-Hawk keeper and into the back of the net.

Both Waukee Northwest and Davenport Assumption won titles with victories over the same schools they defeated last year.

In 3A, the Wolves bested Linn-Mar, 3-2, as Olivia Stapleton broke a 2-2 tie in the 64th minute. Romey Croatt and an own goal were the other scores for Waukee Northwest, as Aubrey Luck scored twice for the Lions.

Last year, the Wolves earned a 3-2 decision over Linn-Mar in the finals.

Davenport Assumption bested Denver for 1A gold, 2-0, as Ruby Stevens scored early and Dru Dorsey scored late. The score was the exact same as the final in 2024 between the two teams.
