The Iowa high school baseball season is roughly one-third of the way over, so now is a perfect time to check in on some of the top single-game performances so far.

Top Single-Game Pitching Performances
- Brody Wangsness of North Butler tossed a one-hitter with 19 strikeouts, no walks and one hit batter in a 6-1 victory.
- Tate Slagle, a University of Iowa commit, led Algona to an 8-1 victory by striking out 17 with three hits and one walk allowed.
- Aiden Ulrich, Slagle's teammate at Algona, gives the Bulldogs a 1-2 power pitching combo. He tossed a one-hitter with 17 strikeouts in a 5-0 victory over intra-city rival Bishop Garrigan.
- Brent Yonkovic continues to show why he is one of the top athletes in the state, as the senior from West Delaware struck out 17 in a 6-5 win over Beckman Catholic.
- Cal Heydon is just a junior, but he is making a statement thanks to a 16-strikeout, one-hitter in a 2-0 victory over Woodbine.
- Forest City's Hunter Sunkle silenced North Union, striking out 16 with one walk and one hit allowed in a 4-1 triumph.
- Luke Erselius recorded 16 strikeouts in a 9-3 victory vs. Colfax-Mingo.
- Charlie Dvergsten tossed a no-hitter over eight innings in a 1-0 loss to Denison-Schleswig, striking out 16.
- Raine Pitre was on his game vs. South Hardin, as the Iowa Falls-Alden sophomore struck out 16 with one hit allowed.
- Kane Koch mowed down 16 batters to lead Lake Mills past Bishop Garrigan, as he did not allow a hit over six-plus innings.
Top Single-Game Hitting Performances
- Recently tabbed the Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year in Iowa, Taitn Gray of Dallas Center-Grimes celebrated with a three-home run game, driving in four.
- Layne Peska of Iowa Valley went 5-for-5 with two doubles, three RBI and four runs scored in a 21-2 victory.
- Des Moines East junior Johnathon Giefer had himself a day, belting four doubles while going 5-for-6 with two RBI and a run scored.
- Carson Wessel from Audubon could not be stopped, going 5-for-5 with six RBI and three runs scored.
- Isaiah Busick dominated at the plate for Humboldt, recording five hits in five appearances with a home run, three runs scored and four RBI.
- In the season opener for Fort Dodge, freshman Reggie Pederson drove in nine with a home run and two doubles, finishing 4-for-4 with three runs scored.
- Aiden Hrnicek of Webster City plated eight runners on two doubles and a single, scoring twice himself.
- The opposing catcher could not keep Jax Steger from going crazy, as the Edgewood-Colesburg freshman swiped seven bases.
- Mason Loan matched Steger, as the freshman from Clayton Ridge had seven steals in seven attempts.
