A high school football coach in Connecticut has stepped down from his duties to become part of the school’s administration.
His replacement as coach - none other than his son.
On Thursday, Windsor High School named Quinn Fleeting as interim head coach. Fleeting takes over for his father, Rob Fleeting, who had been Windsor’s coach for 14 seasons before being named the school’s assistant principal earlier this month.

"I had never really seen myself in this position, I always wanted to coach beside him and let him lead the way," Quinn Fleeting said in an interview with CTInsider. "But he emphasized how he wanted me to take over and lead the way.
“Him having confidence in me, as well as our superintendent, central office, athletic director, and our principal having that confidence in me as well, just made it a no-brainer.”
In his 14 seasons at Windsor, Rob Fleeting went 144-29 and won a CIAC state championship in 2014 while guiding his team to five other CIAC state title games, including last season’s Class MM final, a 24-21 loss to Masuk. Fleeting is also 222-62-2 over a career that has spanned 24 seasons.
His first year at Windsor was Quinn Fleeting’s freshman year at the school. Quinn Fleeting played quarterback at Windsor from 2009-12, and threw for 7,240 career yards and accounted for 93 total touchdowns.
After graduating from Western Connecticut State University in 2018, Quinn returned to Windsor as an assistant coach, and has spent the last four seasons as offensive coordinator.
Though Quinn’s father is no longer the coach, Robert Fleeting told CTInsider that he will still offer his son and his staff any assistance whenever needed.
"Right now I am here to serve as an advisor, and if they need any support I will give them support," Robert Fleeting said. "I didn't do this alone. I did this with a great staff, and I do think we have a great staff.
“Even though this is an interim position, when it is posted after the season I am hoping that the administration will have the commitment to our staff that they have had in the past.”
