Former East St. Charles High School standout Dylan Barrett has found his name on the watch list for the Rimington Award, which is given yearly to the top college football center.

Barrett, who plays for Iowa State, transferred to the school after originally playing at Wisconsin. This will be his second season with the Cyclones, as he started eight games at left guard after missing six with an injury last year.

During his four-year prep career in Illinois, Barrett allowed just one sack while recording 102 pancake blocks. He was also involved in track and field at East St. Charles.

Barrett was a first team all-state selection as a senior in 2019 and regarded as a three-star prospect by 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals. He was tabbed the 2019 Dukane Conference Lineman of the Year and a three-time all-Dukane Conference selection while also earning four academic all-league selections.

At Wisconsin, Barrett redshirted his first season before playing in 10 games over the next two years. With him on the offensive line last year, Iowa State tied for the fourth-most rushing touchdowns in a single-season and broke the record for most points scored.

The Cyclones open the year against Kansas State on Saturday, August 23 in Dublin, Ireland for the Aer Lingus College Football Classic.

Named for former Nebraska standout Dave Rimington, the Rimington Award was first handed out in 2000. The most recent winner was Seth McLaughlin of Ohio State, who became the fourth Buckeye to receive the honor.
