The Iowa high school baseball tournament has reached the semifinal round for half of the classes in both Carroll and Sioux City.
In Class 1A, Martensdale-St. Marys knocked off Hillcrest Academy, 18-8 in six innings, and Saint Ansgar got by East Buchanan, 8-5. Those two will play for the title on Friday.

For 3A, Dubuque Wahlert handled Saydel, 10-0 in five, and Pella stunned Sioux City Bishop Heelan, 3-2.
On Thursday, the 2A and 4A semifinals will take place as Underwood plays Unity Christian and Chariton takes on Pleasantville. Over in 4A, Iowa City High plays Cedar Rapids Prairie and Waukee Northwest battles Bettendorf.
Here are some of the top individual performances from Wednesday at the Iowa high school state baseball tournament:
Class 1A
- Trey Wight, Martensdale-St. Marys: Wight was 4-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored, recording a double.
- Colton Wight, Martensdale-St. Marys: Wight had three hits, plating three runs with a run scored.
- Liam Schrock, Hillcrest Academy: Schrock registered two triples, finishing 2-for-4 with a run scored.
- Seth Ours, Hillcrest Academy: The shortstop drove in three runs with his two hits.
- Jayce Schwiesow, Saint Ansgar: Schwiesow was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored.
- Kyle Peck, East Buchanan: The leadoff hitter had two hits with a run scored and an RBI while also drawing a walk.
Class 3A
- Foti Rigopoulos, Dubuque Wahlert: The starter went all five innings, allowing just three hits with seven strikeouts and one walk.
- Noah Krapfl, Dubuque Wahlert: Krapfl contributed three RBI.
- Will Specht, Dubuque Wahlert: Specht had three hits while scoring twice.
- Anderson Schrim, Pella: The catcher had two hits and drove in a run for the Dutch.
- Kaleb LaFavor, Sioux City Bishop Heelan: LaFavor went six-plus, striking out eight while allowing just five hits and one earned run.
- Jon Hope, Sioux City Bishop Heelan: Hope had three hits in three at-bats, scoring a run.
