Ever encountered a shell game scammer when roaming around the streets of Vegas? That’s exactly the type of feeling podcaster Jake Crain gets about the whole bloated Arch Manning hype train.
No offense to Manning, but he still needs more stats backing him up as one of the finest QBs.
“When you look at some of these quarterback rankings and people are putting Arch Manning at two, like ahead of guys like Garrett Nusmeer and even Marcel Reed. I think at the moment, it blows my mind,” Crain commented on On3’s Hard Count.
“So, I'm not saying this in any way reflects who Arch Manning is, but to me, you don't have enough information to be able to start putting Arch Manning with what we know now as your number two or number one or really top five returning quarterbacks through all classes. Not newcomers, but through all classes.
“It just reminds me of the guys out in Vegas who have the cups with the ball, and they make you try and figure out which one is in it. I think it's a parlor trick.”
This question will also raise serious doubts over Manning’s Heisman chances, since his hype train places him as a top contender for that trophy this season.
Manning can easily reach there if he has the performance and stats for it. It becomes even more important when his direct competition is QBs like LaNorris Sellers, Garrett Nussmeier, and DJ Lagway.
All Manning needs to do for now is put his head down and aim for the numbers to defend his case.
