Some nicknames just feel right.

For St. Paul's Episcopal (Alabama) five-star edge-rusher Anthony "Tank" Jones, his moniker certainly feels apt.

The 6-foot-4, 240-pound defender is rated the nation's No. 16 overall prospect, No. 3 edge-rusher and he's racked up nearly 40 scholarship offers.

No projection needed, either.

Jones is already, well, a tank.

As a freshman, Jones amassed a whopping 130 tackles.

That number reduced to 84 as a junior, but he tacked on 16 sacks.

In track and field, Jones won the Alabama 6A state title in the discus and finished second in the shot put.

So, there's no denying his athletic prowess.

On Thurday, Jones made headlines in his recruitment, as he trimmed his list of suitors to a final three of Alabama, Oregon and Texas A&M.

There's really no surprise among the trio, as they made up his final three official visits this summer.

However, the list does cut two other programs Jones officially visited - Miami and Auburn.

For his part, Jones has remained fairly tight-lipped about a possible favorite.

It's always difficult to lure a five-star Alabama recruit out of the home state, but Oregon and Texas A&M have consistently proven to be lively underdogs in the NIL era.

So far, there is no timetable for a commitment - with Jones hinting at a summer pledge but also, at times, stating that he may wait until December's early signing period.

Regardless of when he comes off the board, it appears the battle for his services is officially down to three.

Here's what 247Sports had to say about Jones as a prospect:

"Physically-imposing pass rusher in possession of a high octane motor that allows him to generate pressures in both a two or three point stance while operating in an odd front."

"Already north of 230-pounds as a rising senior, Jones displays a collegiate ready frame in conjunction with an explosive lower half that bodes well for his ability to make an impact sooner rather than later at the next level. Although he’s not the most dynamic mover off the edge, the three-sport athlete makes good use of his ability to attack leverage while demonstrating the ability to win with quickness or power at the point of attack."

"A polished defender with a sneaky athletic profile, Jones appears more geared to add value as a run defender early in his collegiate career while projecting as a high floor 3-4 OLB that can also add situational pass rush ability off the edge in obvious passing downs."
