For all the talk of an Oregon Ducks cold streak on the recruiting trail, Dan Lanning's coaching staff doesn't seem to actually be missing a beat.
After recently securing red-hot Elite 11 Finalist quarterback Bryson Beaver and Bishop Gorman (Nevada) five-star safety Jett Washington, Oregon poached Cal's commit list.
First, the Ducks flipped Farrington (Hawaii) three-star lineman Koloi Keli.
On Wednesday, Oregon added another key piece, as Archbishop Riordan (California) four-star interior offensive lineman Tommy Tofi announced his commitment to the Ducks.
The 6-foot-6, 330-pound lineman, who decommitted from Cal on Monday, is rated the nation's No. 97 overall prospect and No. 6 interior offensive lineman.
Tofi held offers from at least 30 programs, highlighted by Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Nebraska, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Penn State, USC and others.
He has been on Oregon's radar for some time - and was a focal point of their attention at the 2023 Northwest Showcase event at Western Oregon University.
That two-year-plus journey to land Tofi seemed to come to an end in early June when he made a surprise commitment to Cal.
But shortly thereafter it became clear the dominant lineman was still planning to take his June official visits, which included trips to BYU and Oregon.
That Ducks visit proved to be a game-changer was helped tip the Tofi scales in Oregon's favor.
With his commitment, Oregon's 2026 recruiting class jumps from No. 23 nationally to No. 15, leapfrogging Washington, North Carolina, UCLA, Florida and others.
Here's what 247Sports had to say about Tofi as a prospect:
"Massive two-way lineman who offers a ton of positional versatility. Enormous frame and could easily play nose guard at the college level but is being recruited solely on the offensive line."
"Played predominately left tackle as a junior and shows surprising quickness and agility for a 340-pound lineman. Owns tackle length, huge hands, and a jarring punch. Shows above average balance and lateral mobility as a pass protector. Smashmouth run blocker. Manhandles opposing defensive ends and tackles at the point of attack and plays with the kind of mean streak and nastiness."
"Boasts a rare combination of size, fluidity, and the ability to finish. Still growing as a player and trending up, having leaned out his body and gained athleticism over the past couple of years. Possesses as much upside as any offensive lineman out west with the potential to become an NFL Draft pick."
