Dragons winger's future in doubt after Raiders meeting leak frustrates Ricky Stuart image

Raiders coach Ricky Stuart has revealed that details of a confidential meeting between the club and Dragons winger Sione Finau were leaked to the media.

The 23-year-old flyer, currently sidelined with a dislocated shoulder, reportedly visited the Raiders facility earlier this week in what was intended to be a low-profile tour.

But news of the meeting quickly surfaced, much to the frustration of Stuart.

Speaking to The Canberra Times, the premiership-winning coach didn't hold back in expressing his disappointment over the perceived breach of trust.

"[It was] meant to be a private meeting," he said.

"I just don't feel comfortable with it."

The reports suggest that the leaks came from Finau's management, a move Stuart believes has now jeopardised the deal between the player and the Raiders.

Despite his frustration, Stuart was quick to shield Finau from the controversy.

"He's a real nice young bloke. I feel sorry for him," he said.

Finau is under contract with the Dragons until the end of the 2025 season, with no formal agreement in place for 2026.

His NRL future appeared bright, but the recent leak may complicate his prospects - at least with Canberra.

With the Raiders still looking to strengthen their young core and Finau eager to cement a long-term first-grade spot, an agreement still isn't out of the equation.
