Kaeo Weekes has officially extended his deal with the Canberra Raiders, committing to the club until the end of the 2029 NRL season.

It's the second time in under a year that Weekes has re-signed, having previously extended his contract in September 2024.

The 23-year-old fullback has been rewarded with a lucrative two-year upgrade after a breakout season for the green machine.

Weekes' new deal includes a major pay rise, set to surpass $850,000 annually by 2028 as first reported by the The Sydney Morning Herald.

His current form made the extension a priority for Raiders management, who view Weekes as central to their premiership chances.

"It’s really exciting actually," Weekes said in a statement released by the club on Friday.

"I want to repay the faith that the club has shown in me.

"There will be a few good years coming ahead, and I can’t wait to be a part of it."

Weekes has starred since joining from Manly, where he struggled for first-grade opportunities behind established names.

In Canberra, he's flourished - locking down the fullback jersey and tallying seven tries in the 2025 campaign.

He credits his surge in form to a gruelling pre-season and the belief instilled in him by the Raiders coaching staff.

"They put so much confidence into you," Weekes said.

"They prep so well during the week to help you nail your role."

Weekes also praised the club's long-term vision and the close-knit core of rising stars around him.

"Having Strangey (Ethan Strange), Sav (Tamale), Mokes (Matt Timoko), Xavier (Savage), Owen (Pattie); there’s a lot of boys that have signed here for a long time," Weekes said.

"That was a really big selling point for me to stay, we’re going to build some really big connections and hopefully the coming years are good ones."

Coach Ricky Stuart welcomed the deal, calling Weekes a cornerstone of the club's future plans.

"Kaeo’s re-signing continues our plan to sign and re-sign players to look after the future of our club," Stuart said.

"We knew what we were getting when we re-signed Kaeo. He’s been able to work hard on his game this year, and he’s seeing the benefits of that hard work.

"We know he’s still got more improvement in his game and I think having him here long term means we’ll see him continue to improve as a player over the coming seasons."
