High school football is officially back, and what better way to begin the season than a ranked showdown between two of the best teams in the country?

Eleventh-ranked Milton — back-to-back Georgia state champions — hits the road to take on No. 12 Buford on Thursday night as a part of the ESPN High School Football Kickoff.

Buford will also unveil its brand-new, 10,000-seat stadium. Phillip Beard Stadium, a $62 million project, is the largest high school football stadium in the southeast. It's also the most expensive high school football facility in the history of the state of Georgia.

Buford will look to break in its new stadium with a bang, as it hopes to hand Milton its first loss since the 2023 season. The Wolves will also try to avenge last year's season-opening 13-10 loss to the Eagles.

The Sporting News has everything that you need to know about watching Buford vs. Milton in a nationally ranked high school football game on Thursday night.
