The Sporting News National High School Football Top 25 bows with familiar names near the top.

Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown.

Somebody should tell the Mater Dei Monarchs.

The reigning kings of high school football won their second straight national title in 2024 and their eighth overall since claiming their first crown in 1994. The Monarchs finished in the top spot of USA Today's Super 25 that year and added a second USA Today crown two years later in 1996.

And then their brief first reign ended.

It overlapped with De La Salle's (Concord, CA) long run as the Golden State's premier program, a span that included the all-time national high school football win streak. Between 1992 and 2004, the Spartans established a new national mark, winning 151 straight games. Even after the streak finally ended, De La Salle remained the state's premier program, collecting eight national championship trophies of their own between 1998 and 2015.

But since then, Mater Dei has reemerged, finally reclaiming the throne in 2017 with their third national title. They've added five more since then for a total of six in an eight-year span, and three of those have been unanimous. That includes last year's title when the seven major selectors all listed Mater Dei at the top of their rankings.*

If they finish undefeated in 2025, then you can make it eight selectors this year, as they enter the 2025 season at the top of The Sporting News National High School Football Top 25. There's no reason to look elsewhere for a No. 1 team until somebody beats them. That hasn't happened in their last 19 games, dating back to October 13, 2023, in a 28-0 loss to the St. John Bosco (Bellflower, CA) Braves.

Since then, these Monarchs have been the kings, bearing their royal diadem with ease, and, perhaps, giving rise to a new adage.

If the crown fits, wear it.

The Sporting News High School Football Top 25

It's Mater Dei and everybody else as the 2025 national high school football season continues its gradual rollout with Alaska, Georgia, Nevada, and Utah all kicking off this weekend. Those states join Hawaii which got the party started last weekend with Saint Louis beating Kahuku in 2025's first national game of the week.

Our initial Top 25 list of 2025 includes 15 defending state champions, highlighted by a quartet from Florida's ranks. Another four teams in our rankings finished undefeated last year, including Mater Dei at the top. The Monarchs are also one of the 10 teams on our list carrying double-digit win streaks into 2025.

Five of our Top 25 teams are in action later this week. We've got a list of those games below the rankings, including The Sporting News National High School Football Game of the Week which features two teams on our list.

So, without further ado, we present our first Top 25 rankings of the 2025 season.

No. 1 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, CA) Monarchs

  • 2024 Unanimous National Champions

  • 2024 California's CIF Open Division State Champions

  • 2024 Record — 13-0

2025 Record: 0-0
Next Game: 8/23/2025, at No. 6 St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, FL)
Last Game: 12/14/2024, Mater Dei 37, De La Salle (Concord, CA) 15 (Open Division title game)
W/L Streak: 19 wins

Mater Dei will open the season at No. 6 St. Thomas Aquinas on August 23 as part of the event billed as the Broward County National Football Showcase. The Monarchs are absolutely loaded with a combined 23 ranked recruits on 247sports.com's Classes of 2026 and 2027. There isn't a single position group that is without FBS-level talent.

They will be breaking in a new quarterback, however, in Ryan Hopkins but not an inexperienced one; he transferred to Mater Dei in the spring after serving as the starting quarterback in 2024 at JSerra Catholic, the Monarchs' Trinity League rival. Mater Dei's biggest foe may be time itself – a 19-game win streak suggests that the Monarchs are due a stumble, and when it happens, it will likely come in a big game with national implications, and possibly on the road. Their last five losses have come against archrival St. John Bosco, however, and they haven't lost to an out-of-state opponent since adopting a national schedule in 2017.

No. 2 Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, NV) Gaels

  • 2024 Nevada's NIAA Class 5A State Champions

  • 2024 Record — 11-1

2025 Record: 0-0
Next Game: 8/22/2025, at Centennial (Las Vegas, NV) Bulldogs
Last Game: 11/26/2024, Bishop Gorman 69, Arbor View (Las Vegas, NV) 7 (NIAA 5A title game)
W/L Streak: 9 wins

Bishop Gorman's only loss a year ago was a 31-15 setback to Mater Dei on September 6. It ended the Gaels' 27-game win streak which dated back to the week after their previous loss on August 26, 2022, to – you guessed it – Mater Dei. They play the Monarchs again on September 19 in a game that will likely make or break their national championship hopes. They've yet to beat Mater Dei in four previous meetings, dating back to their first encounter in 2017.

But Gorman also has another ongoing streak – a 36-game tally against Nevada opponents heading into their season opener on August 22 against Centennial of Las Vegas. In fact, they've only lost one game against in-state competition since 2008, falling, 30-24, in overtime to the Liberty (Henderson, NV) Patriots in the 2019 NIAA Class 4A quarterfinals. That ended a 115-game win streak against in-state foes, meaning the Gaels have won 151 of their last 152 games against teams from the Silver State.

No. 3 St. John Bosco (Bellflower, CA) Braves

  • 2024 Record — 11-2

2025 Record: 0-0
Next Game: 8/22/2025, at Manatee (Bradenton, FL) Hurricanes
Last Game: 12/14/2024, Mater Dei 31, St. John Bosco 24 (CIF Division I final)
W/L Streak: 1 loss

Both of St. John Bosco's losses a year ago came at the hands of the Mater Dei Monarchs. When combined with Bishop Gorman's single loss a year ago, it means that all three losses in 2024 by our preseason No. 2 and No. 3 teams came via Mater Dei.

Still, they are the closest thing the Monarchs have to a nemesis these days, and they are the last team to walk off the field victorious against them – a 28-0 win at home in Bellflower on October 13, 2023. In fact, St. John Bosco is the only team to beat Mater Dei in the past decade, dating back to November 27, 2015, when the Centennial (Corona, CA) Huskies accomplished what has become the impossible. While everybody else has come up empty, St. John Bosco has beaten Mater Dei five times in that span.

Their next dance with the Monarchs is in the 2025 season finale on October 31. In the meantime, the Braves get the season started with a dangerous trip to Florida on August 22 to take on the Manatee (Bradenton, FL) Hurricanes.

No. 4 St. Frances Academy (Baltimore, MD) Panthers

  • 2024 Record — 8-3

2025 Record: 0-0
Next Game: 8/15/2025, Clarkson North (Canada)
Last Game: 11/1/2024, St. Frances Academy 30, IMG Academy (Bradenton, FL) 3
W/L Streak: 5 wins

Playing as an independent against national competition, St. Frances Academy has carved out a niche as one of the national programs in high school football, willing to go anywhere for a game against top competition. Their 8-3 record in 2024 shouldn't be a knock against them; it happened in a three-week span against top-level competition with losses to Orange (CA) Lutheran, Duncanville (TX), and Mater Dei by a combined 17 points.

And, if you're still keeping tabs, that means four of the six losses incurred by our preseason Nos. 2-4 teams came at the hands of the Monarchs a year ago. Details are scant, but it appears St. Frances will open the season this Friday against Clarkson North of Canada.

No. 5 IMG Academy (Bradenton, FL) Ascenders

  • 2024 Record — 7-2

2025 Record: 0-0
Next Game: 8/22/2025, at Hoover (AL) Buccaneers
Last Game: 11/8/2024, IMG Academy 28, St. Thomas More (Oakdale, CT) 7
W/L Streak: 1 win

Like St. Frances, IMG operates as an independent, playing a national schedule, and the two teams have met each of the past four seasons, winning two games apiece. Last year, it was St. Frances' turn, and they handed the Ascenders a 30-3 loss. Coupled with a season-opening 35-34 loss at the Corner Canyon (Draper, UT) Chargers, it wasn't exactly a banner year for the boys from Bradenton. Their 2025 opener at the Hoover (AL) Buccaneers on August 22 is no piece of cake either, and they'll be looking to avoid falling into the same hole they fell into last year.

No. 6 St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, FL) Raiders

  • 2024 Florida's FHSAA Class 5A State Champions

  • 2024 Record — 12-3

2025 Record: 0-0
Next Game: 8/23/2025, No. 1 Mater Dei Monarchs
Last Game: 12/12/2024, St. Thomas Aquinas 34, Lakeland (FL) 0
W/L Streak: 5 wins

The St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders' three losses a year ago came against Bishop Gorman, Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood, FL), and American Heritage (Plantation, FL) – three defending state champions that open the 2025 season in our Top 10. You certainly can't accuse the Raiders of playing a soft schedule, and this season is no exception; they start the season by hosting the No. 1 Mater Dei Monarchs. They won't be No. 6 after this game, but the question is – will they be moving up or down?

No. 7 Duncanville (TX) Panthers

  • 2024 Record — 13-1

2025 Record: 0-0
Next Game: 9/5/2025, South Oak Cliff (Dallas) Bears
Last Game: 12/14/2024, North Crowley 36, Duncanville 34
W/L Streak: 1 loss

Duncanville has had trouble cobbling together a full 10-game schedule recently, playing just nine regular-season games a year ago. This season, there are only eight games showing on the docket, meaning their resume might look a little slight compared to other teams in our Top 10, at least until the postseason arrives.

They do have a game against No. 18 DeSoto on October 10, and it's imperative that they win that game to stay in the national title hunt. Last season ended in heartbreaking fashion via a 36-34 loss to the North Crowley (TX) Panthers in Texas' UIL Class 6A Division 1 semifinals.

No. 8 Grayson (Loganville, GA) Rams

  • 2024 Georgia's GHSA Class 6A State Champions

  • 2024 Record — 14-1

2025 Record: 0-0
Next Game: 8/15/2025, at Collins Hill (Suwanee) Eagles
Last Game: 12/18/2024, Grayson 38, Carrollton 24 (GHSA Class 6A title game)
W/L Streak: 14 wins

Grayson has hung around the upper reaches of the national rankings several times in recent years, but they've yet to break through and win an elusive national title, yet. Last year, it took just one game for the dream to end, dropping a 20-19 heartbreaker to Collins Hill. That's the same team the Rams will play this Friday night to open the 2025 season. If they want to stay in the title hunt, they'll have to avoid the upset bug this time around.

No. 9 American Heritage (Plantation, FL) Patriots

  • 2024 Florida's FHSAA Class 4A State Champions

  • 2024 Record — 12-2

2025 Record: 0-0
Next Game: 8/22/2025, vs. No. 21 St. Joseph's Prep (Philadelphia, PA) Hawks at St. Thomas Aquinas High
Last Game: 12/13/2024, American Heritage 41, Jones (Orlando) 31
W/L Streak: 11 wins

American Heritage's only losses a year ago were to the undefeated Georgia GHSA Class 5A state champion Milton Eagles and Florida's FHSAA Class 1A state champion Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood, FL) Lions. The Patriots play one of the hardest schedules in the country again this year with four defending state champions on the lineup card this year.

That includes Pennsylvania's defending PIAA Class 6A champion St. Joseph's Prep of Philadelphia in the season opener, followed by that Chaminade-Madonna squad again. That's the first two games of a three-week stretch that includes a trip to Louisiana to face the Bayou State's defending Division I Select state champion Edna Karr (New Orleans, LA) Cougars. If that stretch doesn't kill them, they'll likely be undefeated headed into a Week 9 tilt against Florida's FHSAA Class 5A defending state champion St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders.

No. 10 Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood, FL) Lions

  • 2024 Florida's FHSAA Class 1A State Champions

  • 2024 Record — 13-2

2025 Record: 0-0
Next Game: 8/23/2025, vs. No. 4 St. Frances Academy (Baltimore, MD) at St. Thomas Aquinas High
Last Game: 12/11/2024, Chaminade-Madonna 42, Clearwater (FL) Central Catholic 7
W/L Streak: 13 wins

Like their Florida brethren above, Chaminade-Madonna has a schedule that will either make 'em or break 'em. Two of their first three games come against teams in our Top 10, playing No. 4 St. Frances Academy out of the gate on neutral ground in Florida, followed by a Week 3 visit to American Heritage. If they survive that gauntlet, the Lions are probably undefeated heading into the regular season finale at St. Thomas Aquinas on the same field where they open the season against St. Frances next weekend.

No. 11 Centennial (Corona, CA) Huskies

  • 2024 Record — 9-3

2025 Record: 0-0
Next Game: 8/22/2025, Servite (Anaheim) Friars
Last Game: 11/22/2024, Mater Dei 36, Centennial 7
W/L Streak: 1 loss

With three of their first four games coming against California opponents from the Trinity League, the Centennial Huskies may know their fate, nationally speaking, before we even get to mid-September. Those games are sandwiched around a home game with Utah's Bingham (South Jordan) Miners which could be another stiff challenge. The fourth game in that series is the real measuring stick, however, against preseason No. 1 Mater Dei.

As noted above, Centennial remains the last team to beat Mater Dei other than St. John Bosco, and the 10th anniversary of that milestone will be November 27. Any route to a national title for the Huskies will include finding a way to break that drought. The Huskies' 2024 season started and ended with losses to Mater Dei, so that's easier said than done.

No. 12 Buford (GA) Wolves

  • 2024 Record — 12-2

2025 Record: 0-0
Next Game: 8/14/2025, No. 14 Milton (GA) Eagles (TSN National HFB Game of the Week)
Last Game: 12/6/2024, Carrollton (GA) 30, Buford 17
W/L Streak: 1 loss

Buford opens the season Thursday night, hosting the Milton Eagles in The Sporting News National High School Football Game of the Week. It's a rematch of last year's season opener when Milton squeaked out a 13-10 win before ultimately going on to win Georgia's GHSA Class 5A crown with a 15-0 record. Buford had an impressive run, too, rolling off 12 straight wins after that loss to Milton before finally losing to Carrollton in the GHSA Class 6A semifinals.

No. 13 North Crowley (TX) Panthers

  • 2024 Texas' UIL Class 6A Division I State Champions

  • 2024 Record — 16-0

2025 Record: 0-0
Next Game: 8/28/2025, Lancaster (TX) Tigers
Last Game: 12/21/2024, North Crowley 50, Westlake (Austin) Chaparrals (UIL Class 6A D1 title game)
W/L Streak: 16 wins

North Crowley had been on the verge of a state championship run for a couple of years, finishing undefeated in consecutive regular seasons in 2022 and 2023 while compiling a 26-2 overall record. Last year, they completed a third straight undefeated regular campaign before finally seeing it all the way through and winning the UIL Class 6A Division I title.

No. 14 Milton (GA) Eagles

  • 2024 Georgia's GHSA Class 5A State Champions

  • 2024 Record — 15-0

2025 Record: 0-0
Next Game: 8/14/2025, at No. 12 Buford (GA) Wolves
Last Game: 12/17/2024, Milton 56, Langston Hughes (Fairburn, GA) 35 (GHSA Class 5A title game)
W/L Streak: 25 wins

As noted above, defending GHSA Class 5A state champion Milton will take on the Buford Wolves in our national game of the week. Milton's win over Buford last year came at home, but this time the Eagles will have to steal one on the road. Milton is actually a two-time defending state champion, having won the Class 7A title in 2023 before Georgia reorganized its high school ranks into six classifications.

No. 15 Northwestern (Miami, FL) Bulls

  • 2024 Florida's FHSAA Class 3A State Champions

  • 2024 Record — 12-2

2025 Record: 0-0
Next Game: 8/23/2025, No. 16 Orange (CA) Lutheran Lancers
Last Game: 12/14/2024, Northwestern 41, Raines (Jacksonville) 0 (FHSAA Class 3A title game)
W/L Streak: 10 wins

Northwestern will kick off its season next weekend in high fashion, playing host to the No. 16 Orange (CA) Lutheran Lancers. The Bulls' 12-2 season was a little bit of a surprise after a 4-6 finish in 2023, and the opener will be a good test to find out just exactly where the Bulls stand after their 2024 title run.

No. 16 Orange (CA) Lutheran Lancers

  • 2024 Record — 8-4

2025 Record: 0-0
Next Game: 8/23/2025, at No. 15 Northwestern Bulls
Last Game: 11/22/2024, St. John Bosco (Bellflower, CA) 20, Orange Lutheran 17
W/L Streak: 1 loss

We'll find out real quick what the Lancers are made of in a cross-country trip to Florida to take on the No. 15 Northwestern Bulls above. Orange Lutheran is one of California's mighty programs from the Trinity League, and they played two tight games against our preseason No. 3 St. John Bosco, losing by a combined seven points. Of course, like everybody else, they still couldn't manage to climb the Mater Dei mountain which they'll have to do eventually to break through to a new level.

No. 17 Thompson (Alabaster, AL) Warriors

  • 2024 Alabama's AHSAA Class 7A State Champions

  • 2024 Record — 11-3

2025 Record: 0-0
Next Game: 8/21/2025, Carver Montgomery (AL) Wolverines
Last Game: 12/4/2024, Thompson 21, Central (Phenix City, AL) (AHSAA Class 7A title game)
W/L Streak: 5 wins

It was an odd-season for the Thompson Warriors in 2024. Yes, they won Alabama's AHSAA Class 7A Division title, finishing 11-3. But those three losses all came in overtime by a single point – a 15-14 loss to the Grayson (Loganville, GA) Rams in the season opener, a 14-13 loss the Clay-Chalkville (Pinson) Cougars at mid-season, and a 27-26 loss to the Hoover Buccaneers in Week 8.

Hoisting the state championship trophy helped heal the wounds from those close losses, but looking back, there's still a sense of what might have been if the Warriors had found a way to win those nailbiters.

No. 18 DeSoto (TX) Eagles

  • 2024 Record — 11-3

2025 Record: 0-0
Next Game: 8/30/2025, at Creekside (Fairburn, GA) Seminoles
Last Game: 12/7/2024, Longview (TX) 50, DeSoto 14
W/L Streak: 1 loss

The 2024 season didn't end so well for DeSoto in a 50-14 blowout loss at the hands of the Longview (TX) Lobos. But DeSoto has the talent to get back in the mix this fall, and they'll find out a lot about themselves in a season-opening trip to Fairburn, Georgia, to take on the Creekside Seminoles – a 10-3 semifinalist in Georgia's GHSA Class 4A ranks a year ago.

No. 19 East St. Louis (IL) Flyers

  • 2024 Illinois' IHSA Class 6A State Champions

  • 2024 Record — 13-1

2025 Record: 0-0
Next Game: 8/28/2025, vs. No. 20 Bergen Catholic (NJ) Crusaders at Ocean City, NJ
Last Game: 11/30/2024, East St. Louis 48, Geneva (IL) 28
W/L Streak: 5 wins

With the top teams from New Jersey (Bergen Catholic), Nevada (Bishop Gorman), and Florida (IMG Academy) on their 2025 slate, the East St. Louis Flyers have the kind of schedule that could propel them into the national title conversation. Of course, they have to win those games, and all of them are on the road. But if they do, and the dominoes fall right in front of them, then the Flyers are one of the few teams in the country from outside the Top 15 that could be in the national title mix at the end. That's a lot of "ifs."

No. 20 Bergen Catholic (Oradell, NJ) Crusaders

  • 2024 New Jersey's NJSIAA Non-Public Class A State Champions

  • 2024 Record — 11-1

2025 Record: 0-0
Next Game: 8/28/2025, vs. No. 19 East St. Louis (IL) Flyers at Ocean City, NJ
Last Game: 11/29/2024, Bergen Catholic 25, Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey) 7
W/L Streak: 11 wins

No. 20 Bergen Catholic and No. 19 East St. Louis will battle it out in "The Battle at the Beach" in Ocean City, New Jersey. It's a great way to get the season started, and one of these teams will raise their profile right out of the gate. The other will already be out of the national conversation.

No. 21 St. Joseph’s Prep (Philadelphia, PA) Hawks

  • 2024 Pennsylvania's PIAA Class 6A State Champions

  • 2024 Record — 11-2

2025 Record: 0-0
Next Game: 8/22/2025, vs. No. 9 American Heritage (Plantation) Patriots at St. Thomas Aquinas High
Last Game: 12/7/2024, St. Joseph's Prep 35, Central Catholic (Pittsburg) 6
W/L Streak: 8 wins

St. Joseph's Prep will have a major test – and a major opportunity – right out of the gate. The Hawks play in what HighSchoolFootballAmerica.com calls the second toughest league in the United States. Adding major non-conference games against No. 9 American Heritage of Florida in the opener and No. 4 St. Frances Academy in mid-September tilt means the Hawks could have a ticket to the Top 10 or beyond if they can find a way to win those games. They get St. Frances at home, but they'll have to find a way to win in Florida for it to really matter.

No. 22 Edna Karr (New Orleans, LA) Cougars

  • 2024 Louisiana's LHSAA Division I Select State Champions

  • 2024 Record — 14-0

2025 Record: 0-0
Next Game: 9/5/2025, Archbishop Shaw (Marrero, LA) Eagles
Last Game: 12/14/2024, Edna Karr 53, Alexandria (LA) 8
W/L Streak: 14 wins

After cruising through the Louisiana prep ranks to the tune of a perfect 14-0 season last fall, Edna Karr is going the national route this year. The Cougars will host our preseason No. 9 American Heritage of Florida with an opportunity to raise their profile across the country. Win, and the Cougars likely vault into at least the Top 15 with a chance to climb the ranks from there.

The schedule doesn't afford enough opportunities to climb as high as the Top 5, more than likely, but their resume could be enhanced by American Heritage's many opportunities against other high-profile programs. And that could change everything for the Cougars if they own a win against the Patriots.

No. 23 Mission Viejo (CA) Diablos

  • 2024 Record — 10-1

2025 Record: 0-0
Next Game: 8/22/2025, at Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) Eagles
Last Game: 11/15/2024, Centennial (Corona, CA) 25, Mission Viejo 20
W/L Streak: 1 loss

Mission Viejo's 2024 season ended in the first round of California's postseason in a 25-20 loss to our preseason No. 11 Centennial Huskies. That followed an unblemished regular season, and if the Diablos want to climb the national rankings, they'll likely have to figure out a way to go undefeated again. Then they will have to navigate a treacherous CIF Southern Section Division I in the postseason that read's like a "who's who?" of Golden State football.

In addition to Centennial, last year's field included Mater Dei, St. John Bosco, and Orange Lutheran – all ranked here in our preseason Top 25 – not to mention Santa Margarita in the season opener which only needs to beat these devils to crack the rankings themselves.

No. 24 Southlake (TX) Carroll Dragons

  • 2024 Record — 15-1

2025 Record: 0-0
Next Game: 8/29/2025, at Midland (TX) Bulldogs
Last Game: 12/21/2024, Vandegrift (Austin TX) 24, Southlake Carroll 17
W/L Streak: 1 loss

With eight state championships and three national titles to their credit, the Southlake Carroll Dragons are a name everybody in Texas knows. Their current UIL state title drought is their longest, however, since winning their first title as a member of the Lone Star State's Class 3A ranks back in 1988.

Carroll had a nine-year gap between titles after winning its third 3A title in 1993 and eventually ending up in Texas' 5A ranks. They won the first of five titles at that level in 2002, but after winning the Class 5A Division I crown in 2011, the Dragons have been banished from the throne. They compete in Class 6A now, and last year's runner-up finish was their second at that level since 2020. They don't have the national schedule to make a big early impression, but if they match last year's 15-0 start, they should be able to crack our Top 10 with their playoff resume. They'll need to win it all to have any chance at getting into the national title conversation.

No. 25 Corner Canyon (Draper, UT) Chargers

  • 2024 Utah's UHSAA Class 6A State Champions

  • 2024 Record — 13-1

2025 Record: 0-0
Next Game: 8/15/2025, Bingham (South Jordan, UT) Miners
Last Game: 11/21/2024, Corner Canyon 30, Lone Peak (Highland) 27
W/L Streak: 11 wins

Corner Canyon is Utah's two-time defending UHSAA Class 6A state champions, and they should be right there in the mix again in 2025. But last year, the Chargers made just as much noise on the national scene, taking down Florida's IMG Academy in a wild 35-34 win on their home ground.

The visiting Ascenders were ranked in the Top 5 in most major listings at the time, and the game raised the Utah school's profile across the country. To continue their climb in 2025, they'll have to avoid a potential trap this Friday night against former Utah kingpin Bingham before making a potentially treacherous trip to Florida on August 22. They'll take on the West Broward (Pembroke Pines, FL) Bobcats there at Fort Lauderdale's Dillard High School as part of the series billed as the Broward County National Football Showcase.

Top 25 teams in action this weekend

The marquee games on the schedule this weekend include our only matchup between two teams in our Top 25 when the No. 12 Buford (GA) Wolves play host to the No. 14 Milton (GA) Eagles. It's a rematch of last year's season opener at Milton, a tight defensive affair won by the Eagles, 13-10, on their home turf.

Milton rolled all the way through the rest of their schedule, mostly unchallenged, to a second straight state title, this time as champions of Georgia's GHSA Class 5A ranks. Their 2023 title came in Class 7A before Georgia reshuffled its teams across six divisions prior to 2024.

Buford, meanwhile, rebounded nicely, riding a 12-game win streak to Georgia's Class 6A semifinals. These two titans of the Peach State prep ranks take top billing on the schedule this week, but Georgia's top-ranked team, our national No. 8 Grayson of Loganville, also has a tough matchup. They will have to be wary of the unranked Collins Hill (Suwanee) Eagles who stunned the Rams a year ago, 20-19, in the 2024 season opener.

Utah's Corner Canyon, meanwhile, will have to tread carefully against the Bingham (South Jordan, UT) Miners in a battle between two of Utah's top programs.
