One state champion will be crowned in Kentucky high school softball on Saturday.
Henderson County takes on Louisville Assumption for the Kentucky High School Athletic Association’s softball championship on Saturday. First pitch has been moved up to noon ET due to approaching weather, and the game will be at John Cropp Stadium on the University of Kentucky campus in Lexington.

The first pitch for the Kentucky state championship softball game between Henderson County and Assumption will be at noon ET. It will be played at John Cropp Stadium in Lexington on the University of Kentucky campus.
KHSAA softball title game overview
Henderson County began the state tournament with a 4-1 win against North Laurel in the opening round; then blanked Daviess County, 7-0, in the quarterfinals.
In Friday’s semifinal round, Henderson County outlasted Scott County, 11-8, after jumping out to an 8-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Anna Kemp was the winning pitcher, allowing two runs on four hits over 5 2/3 innings, striking out five as she improved her record to 22-3.
At the plate, Saniya Shields, Maggie Grogan and Mackenzie Burczyk each had two-hit games. Shields had three RBIs, and Burczyk drove in two as well. Lilly Bennett also had a hit and drove in two runs, as all nine Henderson County base hits were singles.
Assumption began its state tournament run with a 4-2 first-round win against Oldham County and then got past Harrison County, 6-0, in the quarterfinals.
Friday, in the semifinal round, Assumption earned the trip to the title game with a 7-2 win against Lawrence County. Winning pitcher Lauren Satterly moved her record to 17-1 after giving up two runs on seven hits, striking out seven.
Satterly also went 2-for-3 at the plate, as did Jaelynn Oaks and Paige Crain. Satterly drove in two runs and scored three times.
