With the season fast approaching, the Gem State continues to produce Division I talent and the class of 2026 is no exception.

Let's meet the 12 Idaho athletes who are currently Division I bound.

  • Committed to: UC Davis

Quarterbacks often take time to develop, and Jack Brant (6-foot, 180 pounds) has the tools to succeed at the next level. People clearly think so. The three-star recruit and No. 11 in Idaho's class, according to 247Sports, earned first-team All-6A Southern Idaho Conference (Foothills Division) honors while drawing interest from Idaho State and Boise State.

Ryan Brekke, WR/TE

  • High school: Owyhee
  • Committed to: Boise State

Idaho's No. 4 recruit is staying home, and Boise State fans should be excited. Ryan Brekke (6-3, 200) was an All-6A SIC (River Division) first-team and second-team all-state pick who also drew offers from Nevada, Idaho, and Portland State.

Rocky Mountain tight end Drew Byrd races towards the corner of the endzone during a game last season

  • High school: Rocky Mountain
  • Committed to: Washington State

At 6-5, 215 pounds, Drew Byrd has the frame that college coaches love in a tight end. Idaho's No. 10 recruit chose Washington State over Nevada, bringing his three-star talent to the Pac-12. Rocky Mountain has become a pipeline for Division I talent, and Byrd continues that tradition.

  • Committed to: UC Davis

At 6-4, 235 pounds, Sam Haener brings the size and strength that defensive coordinators love on the edge. The three-star recruit and No. 12 in Idaho earned All-6A SIC (Foothills Division) second-team honors and will join fellow teammate Brant in Davis, California, where both can continue their development in the Big Sky Conference.

Rasean Jones, WR

  • High school: Rocky Mountain (transfer from Baker City, OR)
  • Committed to: Boise State

Rasean Jones brings perhaps the most diverse skill set of any commit. The 6-1, 195-pound athlete and No. 6 recruit in Idaho starred as a wildcat quarterback, receiver, defensive back, and kick returner at Baker City before transferring to Rocky Mountain.

Despite a junior season cut short by injury, he still managed 53 catches for 872 yards and 15 TDs. But here's the kicker: he's also a track superstar, running 10.84 seconds in the 100 meters and winning three Oregon Class 4A state titles in hurdles. Oregon State and Washington State also wanted this rare two-sport talent.

Hudson Lewis, WR

  • High school: Timberline
  • Committed to: Washington State

Sometimes the most impressive stat isn't the biggest number—it's the efficiency. Hudson Lewis (5-10, 175) hauled in 57 catches for 775 yards and 14 touchdowns, earning first-team all-state and all-conference honors. The No. 5 recruit in Idaho had nine other offers including Montana, San Diego State, and Texas State, proving that production trumps size.

  • High school: Thunder Ridge
  • Committed to: Utah State

At 6-4, 215 pounds, Preston McDaniel has the versatility to line up anywhere in Utah State's offense. The three-star recruit and Idaho's No. 7 player also fielded offers from Air Force, Army, and Oklahoma State, but chose the Aggies after an All-6A Southeastern Conference first-team season.

Meridian's LaGary Mitchell awaits the play from the sidelines during a game from last season

LaGary Mitchell, LB, Meridian → Utah

  • High school: Meridian
  • Committed to: Utah

As Idaho's No. 3 recruit, LaGary Mitchell (6-2, 200) caught the attention of Boise State and Colorado State, but Utah ultimately won his services. The Meridian linebacker's All-6A SIC (Foothills) selection shows he can play at the highest level in the state, and his size and athleticism suggest he's built for the Big 12.

Kelvin Obot, OT

  • High school: Fruitland
  • Committed to: Utah

In a state where big-time recruiting stories are rare, Kelvin Obot's rise stands as nothing short of extraordinary. The 6-5, 265-pound offensive tackle from Fruitland of all places didn't just earn Division I interest—he became Idaho's top-ranked recruit and recently achieved 5-star status, making him just the second five-star recruit in Idaho history after Burley's Gatlin Bair, who will suit up for the University of Oregon once he returns from his LDS mission in January.

Ohio State, Michigan, Oregon, and Auburn all came calling for the small-town lineman who earned all-state honors on both offense and defense, dominating with 52 tackles and six sacks on defense. His story proves that elite talent can emerge from anywhere.

Andrew Price, OT

  • High school: Timberline
  • Committed to: Hawaii

Sometimes the best stories are about finding the perfect fit. Andrew Price (6-6, 270) and No. 9 player in Idaho had interest from several Mountain West programs but chose the unique opportunity at Hawaii. The three-star recruit and All-6A SIC (Foothills) second-team selection will trade Boise winters for island beaches while protecting Rainbow Warrior quarterbacks.

Rowan Rupp, DE/DT

  • High school: Rocky Mountain
  • Committed to: Boise State

Some players just have a nose for the quarterback, and Rowan Rupp is one of them. The 6-2, 245-pound defensive lineman and No. 8 recruit in Idaho terrorized opposing backfields last season with 78 tackles, 10 sacks, and 14 tackles for loss, earning both first-team all-state and all-league honors. Air Force, Army, and Nevada all showed interest, but Boise State landed the defensive weapon who could make an immediate impact.

Jax Tanner, OT

  • High school: Rocky Mountain
  • Committed to: BYU

When you rack up 115 pancake blocks as a junior, you're doing something right. Jax Tanner (6-4, 275) and No. 2 recruit in Idaho didn't just put up video game numbers—he was named the Gatorade Idaho Player of the Year, the most prestigious award in the state, and drew interest from Tennessee, Michigan, and Oregon. The Rocky Mountain standout represents the kind of dominant lineman that college programs build their offense around.
