For a pair of former Nebraska high school baseball standouts, the 2025 Major League Baseball Draft presented the thrill of a lifetime.
Nolan Sailors from Creighton was selected in the fourth round while Luke Broderick of Nebraska went in the 14th.
Sailors, an outfielder, was picked No. 128 overall by the Kansas City Royals. The 6-footer from Ralston High School in Omaha was named all-Nebraska and to the Super State first team as a senior after hitting .476.

At Creighton this past spring, Sailors hit .389 with six home runs, 18 doubles and four triples, driving in 44 and scoring 60 times. He also swiped 27 bases and drew 33 walks.
Broderick, a right-handed pitcher, went to the Colorado Rockies with pick No. 407 overall. He played for Mount Michael Benedictine School, earning all-state honors as a senior while setting single-season and career records for home runs and strikeouts as a pitcher.
This past year at Nebraska, he was 4-2 on the mound with 13 saves and a 3.25 earned run average. Broderick, who also pitched for Iowa Western at the junior college level, had 43 strikeouts in 36 innings.
