Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell offered the latest update on safety Morice Norris, who exited the preseason Week 1 game against the Atlanta Falcons early following a scary injury.

According to Justin Rogers of the Detroit Football Network, Campbell says Norris is "doing well" but is in the concussion protocol. The plan is to reassess where he's at in "10 to 14 days."

“He's doing well,” Campbell said. “It's good to have him back. He's good. Obviously, he's in concussion protocol. We're going to take it nice and easy here, make sure he's good over the next, let's call it 10 to 14 days and reassess. That's good news.”

Campbell also called Norris' return to the team "a breath of fresh air."

Norris was injured while trying to make a tackle on Friday night. His head snapped back in the process and he had to be loaded onto a stretcher and was transported off the field in an ambulance.

Both teams understandably decided to run out the clock after the scary injury, and the league suspended the game shortly after the Lions and Falcons made that decision.

“(Falcons coach) Raheem (Morris) and I agreed that's what we were going to do," Campbell said of the decision to run out the clock.

"(Referee) Shawn Hochuli let us know that, ‘Hey, the game is still on,’" he added. "We communicated with each other and told Shawn we'll be taking knees. He said, 'I understand,' and that's the way it went. Then the game was called.”

It wasn't long after the game ended that we received positive updates on Norris, both from his head coach and teammates, which allowed the entire NFL world to breath a huge sigh of relief after the frightening incident.

Norris has since taken to social media on a few occasions to confirm he's doing OK and we couldn't be happier to see those updates.
