The Detroit Lions were absolutely riddled with injuries during the 2024 campaign and things haven't been much better ahead of the 2025 season.
Detroit placed three players on season-ending injured reserve on Monday, a list that includes offensive linemen Justin Herron and Colbsy Sorsdal and tight end Kenny Yeboah.
They join cornerback Ennis Rakestraw Jr. and safety Dan Jackson, both of whom are also on IR, and defensive lineman Levi Onwuzurike, who is on the reserve/PUP list.
Six other Lions players are currently on injured lists, although they are eligible to be activated at any time. Defensive end Josh Paschal is on the active/NFI list, and guard Miles Frazier, cornerback Khalil Dorsey, defensive lineman Alim McNeil, linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez and defensive lineman Mekhi Wingo are on the active/PUP list.
Along with all of those players, running back Sione Vaki, wide receivers Tim Patrick, Dominic Lovett and Tom Kennedy, offensive lineman Trystan Colon, defensive lineman Pat O'Connor, cornerback Terrion Arnold and safety Morice Norris are all not practicing due to injury.
Offensive lineman Dan Skipper, who recently made his way back to practice after his own injury, wondered aloud if the Lions are cursed.
"(Morice Norris), he's a great part of this team, and he's a great dude. Seeing him go down like that, and I'm sitting there like a fan. It started early in the game, we got a picture sent of Justin in an air cast," he said. "That doesn't happen in warmups. Hopefully, whoever's got the voodoo doll on us can just undo the pin. This is unbelievable. Legs, and everything else this year, it's crazy."
While we don't like to dabble in the supernatural, things have gotten so bad in Detroit with injuries that anything is on the table when searching for a possible cause.
