The Detroit Lions simply cannot catch a break on the injury front.
With several players already dealing with injuries in Detroit, we can add another to the list to worry about after 2025 sixth-round pick and edge rusher Ahmed Hassanein exited practice early on Monday with a lower leg injury.
The exact injury and severity are unknown as of this writing, but Lions fans always fear the worst these days after the team was riddled with significant injuries in 2024.
Hassanein has appeared in both exhibition games for the Lions and has tallied one pressure in each contest and was the highest-graded defensive player in preseason Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons (85.7). He's expected to play a depth role in 2025, assuming he makes the roster, which is likely.
The Lions can ill-afford to lose anyone else along the edge, as the team had a shaky situation to begin with.
Aidan Hutchinson is in his first season back from a broken tibia and fibula, Marcus Davenport is set to start across from him but is injury-prone and Josh Paschal is still on the NFI list.
