The Cleveland Browns' quarterback battle has been one of the most discussed headlines in the NFL this offseason. Kenny Pickett, Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel, and Shedeur Sanders have battled throughout the spring, and will continue to do so in the summer at training camp and through the preseason.
Because of the four-way battle, it's easy to forget Deshaun Watson is still employed by the Browns. A recent report from Mary Kay Cabot would suggest that Watson is still active in the facility.
“Watson has been an awesome teammate inside the quarterback room and meeting rooms, and has been a great cheerleader for the four quarterbacks vying for the starting job,” Cabot writes. "He’s been especially helpful to the rookies in Gabriel and Sanders, who are working overtime to remain in the starting mix."
The last thing the Browns should want his Watson to be in the ear of the rookies, both when it comes to on-field play and off-field behavior. Considering Watson ranks 55th out of 57 qualified quarterbacks in EPA per play since 2022. It goes without say why Watson would be a red flag in terms of off the field behavior, as he faced several accusations of sexual misconduct. Regardless of the report, it's very safe to say Watson has played his last snap as a Brown, and perhaps in the NFL as a whole.
