The Cincinnati Bengals are coming off a loss in their preseason opener to the Philadelphia Eagles. And while their defense continues to be a work in progress, their offense gave their fans something to be excited about.
Joe Burrow threw two touchdowns, including one to Ja'Marr Chase as the Bengals' starters looked very good. However, one notable player has missed subsequent practices.
Second-year wideout Jermaine Burton was not at practice on Sunday or Monday. The Bengals were very vague with their reasoning, as Chris Roling of Bengals Wire points out.
"Jermaine Burton wasn’t at practice on Sunday, with coaches simply calling it a minor injury he needs to work through," Roling writes. "Given the history there, though, it’s something to keep an eye on this week."
This does pose the possibility that the Bengals are over Burton's behavioral issues and are keeping him away from the team due to an unknown behind-the-scenes issue, or perhaps they could be planning to move on from him all together due to these issues.
Burton was the team's third-round pick in 2024, but caught just four passes all season.
