The Buffalo Bills went very defense-heavy in the 2025 NFL Draft. Specifically, Buffalo addressed their defensive line early in the draft. They took South Carolina defensive tackle T.J. Sanders, Arkansas edge rusher Landon Jackson, and Kentucky defensive tackle Deone Walker. Considering the fact that Buffalo made these moves, it could leave a long-time veteran.

Ronnie Eastham of Sports Illustrated agrees, as he labels DaQuan Jones as a cut candidate.

"The Bills added three new faces to the interior of their defense in Larry Ogunjobi (free agency), and two through the draft, T.J. Sanders and Deone Walker," Eastham writes. "DaQuan Jones is 33 and did not have the year many expected in 2024. The Bills have the 6'6" Zion Logue, who is only 22, so he could be a wildcard too. If the Bills release Jones before June 1, they take on over $7.6 million in dead money, saving only $1.7 million. If they wait until after June 1, the numbers are very different. They still take on dead money, but it's spread out over 2025 and 26, $3.9 million and $3.7 million, respectively, but save $5.5 million in 2025."

Jones appeared in 16 games in 2024, notching 2.5 sacks. He'll turn 34 before season's end in 2025 and he is very likely to be the first man out after the Bills added several younger players at his position. Jones joined the Bills in 2022, where he has totaled 77 tackles in three seasons.
