Oregon's Dillon Gabriel gets good Browns news after Kenny Pickett report image

Not only is it possible that former Oregon standout Dillon Gabriel could be the starter for the Cleveland Browns over the next few months, but some other situations could play out. One of those even includes Gabriel being cut, as Shedeur Sanders recently proved that he has the tools to compete at the highest level.

While Gabriel's job could be at risk because of that, Zac Jackson of The Athletic recently reported that it isn't likely that he'll be moved or cut. Instead, the Browns could keep four quarterbacks on their roster, and that could be accomplished by trading Kenny Pickett, who many believed entering the offseason could be the potential starter.

"The Browns absolutely might keep all four quarterbacks because, if Pickett is traded or released, one of the rookies would become the immediate backup," he wrote.

With Joe Flacco expected to start, the Browns will have an opportunity to examine Gabriel and others during the remainder of the year.

Whether one of them gets a chance to start only remains to be seen, but it might be the better option long-term for Cleveland.

The Browns have been searching for a competent quarterback over much of the past decade, and while Gabriel and Sanders haven’t proven to be that in the NFL yet, they give them the best chance.

If it comes down to Gabriel or Sanders to be the starting quarterback, Gabriel will have to prove plenty, but he might have the upper hand because of where he was drafted.

Ultimately, the Browns have some decisions to make, and any of them could impact Gabriel.
