Always the one for witty jabs, Georgia Bulldogs football coach Kirby Smart didn't let the opportunity slip when it came to taking on his top SEC rivals, based on recent success and recent meetings on the gridiron, by its horns.
When asked about his thoughts on the Texas Longhorns, Smart didn't hold back on his nonchalant wit.
"Is it going to be tough watching Texas hoist the SEC championship trophy this year?" social media personality Big Game Bengal asked Smart during the EA Sports 26 promotional event.
"In what sport? Baseball or basketball?" Smart said smugly, dismissing Steve Sarkisian's team altogether.
While he might be enjoying a playful jab there, Smart won't be foolish enough to disregard Texas as a serious contender this season.
Sarkisian boasts an elite defensive line this season, possibly the best in the SEC. Although they suffer from key losses in their offensive line, Sarkisian has replenished it with some good talent. Isaiah Bond, Silas Bolden, and Matthew Golden in the receiving corps are just a few names Arch Manning won't be throwing to in 2025.
All of that is keeping aside the whole Arch anticipation.
Archticipation?
That said, none of it would come easily to Texas, especially defeating bluebloods like Georgia.
Sarkisian sits at No. 4 while Smart is ranked the best head coach in 2025 per The Sporting News.
Texas will travel to Athens on Nov. 15 to take on the Bulldogs at the Stanford Stadium.
We'll see whether Smart could match his wit to his performance then.
