Cleveland Browns rookie QB Shedeur Sanders receiving optimistic feedback during his OTAs hardly guarantees a starting spot for him this season, much less in Week 1.

Sanders, as an NFL quarterback, is still very much a work in progress. Tapping him as the starting QB will only create a "too much, too soon" situation for Sanders.

And that's coming from an analyst who wishes the best for Sanders in Cleveland.

"I want him to have a chance to succeed. And it's too much, too soon. He seems like a good young kid. I hate the crap that people are laying on him. I want what's the best for Shedeur Sanders. And starting him in Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals is a reckless thing to do," Ken Carman, the long-time host of 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland, cautioned.

"I would think it's almost a disastrous move if they make him a week 1 starter," Carmen continued, completely against the idea of handing a fifth-round rookie like Sanders the QB1 reins.

Almost all Browns Insiders are on board with Carman's opinion here.

There is hardly any shot for Sanders to be the Week 1 starter. Stefanski's best bet would be sticking with veteran Joe Flacco based on their current pecking order.

"I think it's very, very hard for a rookie to step right in and to read those defenses and understand what they're trying to do to you and to get acclimated and to play on the road and to play in noise and all that kind of stuff," Browns Insider Mary Kay Cabot reported last week.

"So I just have a feeling that it's going to be a veteran starting in week one."

Flacco might have the highest chance of starting in Week 1, but that does not necessarily mean that he will stay the starter throughout the season.

Until then, Sanders has to prepare himself well and wait for the ball to drop into his court.
