It may have been a surprise, especially last season, that Quinn Ewers kept starting over Arch Manning. Manning looked like the clear better option, especially when he got into games in relief of an injured Ewers. Now, it's Manning's team, and the best thing Ewers did for the Longhorns was pave the way for Manning.

CFB insider R.J. Young with FOX Sports said that Texas is his number one team in the country, adding, "If Texas wins a national title for the first time in two decades, it's because Quinn Ewers — a three-year starter for the Longhorns who went on to become a seventh-round draft pick by the Miami Dolphins — helped set the table to enjoy the meal. That’s Ewers’ legacy."

It may seem disheartening to belittle Ewers like that, but that's just the reality when you hand over a team that didn't win anything to a generational prospect. "Make no mistake about it, though, this is now Arch Manning's team, and he's the best quarterback that the Longhorns have had since Vince Young," Young added.

He admitted that Manning was limited last season, but that he still had over 1,000 yards total in the brief time Manning was in for Ewers, showcasing a mere glimpse of what he might bring to the table in 2025.
