ESPN broke down this secret Jokic superpower in a recent story.
According to ESPN, Jokic has been called for 127 kicked-ball violations since the start of 2020. He had 56 kicks alone in 2022-23, more than any other team.
Jokic has basically double the kicked-ball violations of second place Nikola Vucevic (66) in that span. Apparently something about being named Nikola and kicking.

ESPN broke down the stats further: Jokic has 67 kicked-ball violations with his right foot and 60 with his left. Talk about balance.
Jokic's kicked-ball tendency slows down the opposition attack and gives them no choice but to reset.
He may not be a classical great defender, but Jokic has his methods of getting the job done.
