Utah high school girls basketball fans probably already know, but look out for Cedar Valley this season.
The Aviators went 16-7 last season without any seniors, and last weekend (June 13-14) they went 4-0 at Section 7 to a claim the crown in the Carolyn and Todd Delano bracket. They beat Sunnyside (AZ) 32-26, Bingham (UT) 41-32, and Rigby (ID) 46-43 before blowing out Coronado (NV) 63-41 in the finals.

Expected to return for Cedar Valley in the 2025-26 season are Ellie Larson (11.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.8 steals, 1.0 blocks), Hadley Whiting (10.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.3 steals), Daisy Thayne (9.7 points, 3.2 steals, 2.2 assists), Savannah Klodt (8.8 points, 2.4 assists, 1.7 steals), and Presley Whiting (7.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.1 blocks) in addition to a host of key reserves.
If you're not used to hearing about Cedar Valley as one of Utah's stronger high school girls basketball programs, it's because the Aviators are newcomers. Cedar Valley High School opened in 2019, and the girls varsity team went 6-16 in its inaugural season. Since then, however, the Aviators have been in the vicinity of .500 every season except 2021-22, when they went 19-7, and last season.
It would not be a surprise to see Cedar Valley put up the best season in the program's short history next season and continue making a name for itself among the upper ranks of Utah high school girls basketball. Its Section 7 title may well be just a taste of what's yet to come.
