American commentator Ben Shapiro is often outspoken about a wide variety of topics, from politics to current events. However, in his recent podcast, Shapiro discussed a topic that was quite different than the type of content he normally focuses on. He discussed women’s basketball, and particularly the well-known rivalry between the Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark and the Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese.

The rivalry between Clark and Reese, who are both incredibly popular players, began while they were still playing college basketball. It has continued as they progressed into the WNBA.

Shapiro’s take on the rivalry is likely not one that many Reese fans would appreciate.

“Can we be clear about this? If Caitlin Clark were not in the WNBA, we would not be talking about the WNBA. She’s the only ticket draw in the WNBA,” he began.

“A large percentage of all tickets sold in the WNBA are so people can watch Caitlin Clark play basketball. No one cares about Angel Reese, she’d be drawing flies if she were playing not against Caitlin Clark on the court right now,” he continued.

“Angel Reese has basically become the Bill Laimbeer to Caitlin Clark’s Larry Bird, essentially, that is where we now are,” he said, referencing two of the biggest basketball rivals in history.
