Jordan Chiles opens up about her past struggles with body image and self-confidence image

From the outside looking in, it may seem like Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles has it all. She’s got beauty, fame, and success. However, in a vulnerable new advertisement for Nike, she revealed that it hasn’t always been easy for her to feel confident in her own skin.

In a clip shared to Instagram on Wednesday, May 28, Chiles got open and honest about her past struggles with body image.

“Embracing my body actually took me a while. I’ve gone through hard times of really looking at myself in the mirror and wondering if I was beautiful. I didn’t like wearing certain things because it didn’t make me feel like a woman,” she began.

“Beauty is hard, right? Beauty is pain. That’s a saying that every woman goes through. But then I had to realize every woman isn’t the same. My body is my temple. My body is something that I get to create and design. God didn’t create this body for no reason. I just want to embrace who I am and be that girl,” she continued.

Chiles is just 24 years old and is considered one of the most talented gymnasts in the country. During the 2024 Paris Olympics, she secured a gold medal with the United States women’s gymnastics team.
