There's more that goes into being a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader than many people realize.

While the Netflix series "America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders" peels back the veil on many of the inner workings of the popular NFL cheer team, not every secret is revealed in detail.

Earlier this week, one of the iconic cheer team's members, Abby Summers, sparked a debate online when she posted about the surprising requirement she has to follow to keep her pom-poms in tip-top shape.

"Tonight starts pom pom fluffing time," Summers said in a video posted to TikTok. "As I fluff, I'm going to catch up on the rest of my 'Love Island' episode," she added, while she started the tedious process of tying knots through each piece of her cheer accessory.

"You just keep repeating the process of tying in different directions until it gets fluffy," she continued.

After spending a considerable amount of time on one pom-pom, Summer quipped, "We're a fourth of the way done," before calling it a night.

Viewers criticize Dallas Cowboys for handling of cheerleader equipment

The TikTok video has since racked up hundreds of comments, and viewers didn't hold back on their opinions about why the Cowboys cheerleaders shouldn't have to take care of their gear themselves.

"DCC is literally so embarassing what do you mean you have to make your own pom-poms and wash your own uniform that you literally don't even get to keep when you retire ?!?!?!?! It’s a multi billion dollar organisation," one person commented on the video.

"Imagine if the football players had to blow up the footballs themselves and make their costumes," another person commented.

"At this point I’m surprised they don’t make the DCC cook dinner for the d*** football players,' someone else said.

"Yeah it should be someone’s job to do this for yall," another person wrote.

"Why don’t they have an equipment manager team for you all to ensure uniforms are washed and your poms are ready," someone else commented.
