17-year-old spinner Farhan Ahmed joined an elite list of bowlers with T20 hat-tricks on July 18 during a match-winning spell for Nottinghamshire in the Vitality T20 Blast 2025.
After coming in to bowl as the first change bowler, the Nottinghamshire off-spinner finished his quota of four overs with figures of 5/25 to restrict Lancashire to 126.

Having already dismissed captain Keaton Jennings and Chris Green earlier in his spell, the teenager returned to bowl the final over of the innings. In the last three balls of the 20th over, he scalped the wickets of Luke Wood, Tom Aspinwall and Mitchell Stanley.
Following his 5/25, the Notts chased down the target in 15.2 overs after initially struggling at 14/4 thanks to Tom Moores' match-winning innings of 75(42).
Notably, the young bowling sensation is also the brother of England leg spinner, Rehan Ahmed and has previously featured in the 2024 U19 World Cup.

Who is Farhan Ahmed who took a hat-trick in the Vitality Blast?
Farhan was born on February 22, 2008 in Nottingham. He is the youngest of the three siblings and his brothers Rehan and Raheem, who also play cricket.
While Rehan has represented England in international cricket and Leicestershire in the domestic circuit, Raheem has played for Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire's 2nd XIs.
At just 15, Farhan was a part of England's U19 World Cup squad that toured South Africa in 2024.

In his young FC career for Nottinghamshire, the off-spinner has taken 38 wickets in 13 matches, including a 10-wicket haul in his debut match. The 10 wickets included a 7/40 spell, in which he bowled a whopping 50.4 overs in the innings.
With his hat-trick on Friday, the bowler became the second-youngest cricketer to have a T20 hat-trick to his name, according to Wisden Cricket.

After their seventh win of the Vitality Blast, Notts are now sixth on the table with 28 points to their name, while Lancashire maintain their top position.

Ahmed has featured in five Youth Tests and taken 19 wickets for England, while he has 16 wickets in 16 Youth ODIs.
In his solitary List A game, he has taken only one wicket to go with his 8 wickets in T20s for Notts.
