The Sharks have conceded 40-points in each of their last two outings, boasting the second-lowest points differential of any team currently in the top-eight.

Coach Craig Fitzgibbon fronted the media and expressed his disappointment with the lack of consistency on offer to start the year.

"Prior to the last two weeks we’ve been in every game," he said.

"Consistency is the thing, not the period, we want to be a consistent team, and you’re right the last couple of weeks haven't been.

"Over the course of the last three seasons, there’s always been a period that we’ve had this and managed."

Fitzgibbon, who prides himself on being a defensive-minded coach, vented his frustration about the effort his side put in over the last two games.

"To be consistent you have to have your defence right and yeah, it stings," he said.

"Considering where we’re sitting defensively post the last two weeks in particular, we’ve worked hard on that.

"Simple kick tries are still worth the same amount of points as normal tries.

"We’ve been disappointed in our defence for the last couple of weeks, considering how we were defending prior to that, it’s a slip that we’ve had to address."

Getting back on track has been made even more difficult with starting centre KL Iro going down with a pectoral injury.

"He’s getting assessed by a specialist today, but it will be some time, he's got a pectoral injury there so it will be surgical by the looks of it," said Fitzgibbon.

"We’ve got some cover there with Mawene (Hiroti), who has scored in nearly every game that he’s played for us this year as well and if he gets hurt again Sifa’s (Talaki) had some stints out there."

The Sharks host the Dragons this weekend in a local derby that is one of the most heated rivalries in the NRL.
