Phil Gould has spoken for the first time since reports emerged that Lachlan Galvin will sign with the Bulldogs.
When Galvin first announced in April that he would leave the Tigers at the end of his contract, the Canterbury supremo declared that the Bulldogs had "other plans" and would focus on nurturing their academy talent.
However, the Tigers recently permitted their young playmaker to exit early, as long as a $165,000 transfer fee could be agreed to.
Gould revealed that Galvin then "expressed his desire" to play in Belmore, which saw the Bulldogs change their approach.

While a deal "hasn't been closed off" yet, the teenager could join his new team as soon as this week.
"I don't think I used the term 'wasn't interested' - what I said was that we would stick to our program," Gould said on Channel 9's Sunday NRL coverage.
"When he first told the Wests Tigers he wasn't going to play in 2027, he was still contracted until the end of 2026.
"Even if we wanted to sign him, we couldn't negotiate until the 1st of November this year ... that didn't suit our time frame.
"What happened this week ... the goalposts got moved, incredibly. All of a sudden, we got a call on Tuesday from his manager to say there was a chance they were negotiating a release from the Tigers, and he would be available.
"That's something we had to give consideration to. This week, everything has changed, and everything has moved pretty quickly.
"It's a bit of a frenzy out there. Lachlan Galvin has expressed his desire to play with the Bulldogs, but we still haven't closed off on a deal yet.
"I would hope within the next 48 hours, and have far greater clarity.
"Lachlan, to his credit, has come out and said his preference was the Bulldogs, so we will try and accommodate that."

Galvin is in line to ink a three-and-a-half-year deal with the Bulldogs.
The deal comes after weeks of speculation regarding the teenager's future.
He was previously offered a reported five-year, $5 million contract extension with the Tigers, which was turned down.
The rising star was subsequently dropped from Benji Marshall's NRL side for Round 7, but returned to first-grade the next week.

While Galvin's talent and potential are clear to see, there are question marks surrounding his fit at the Dogs.
Matt Burton and Toby Sexton currently make up the ladder-leading club's halves duo.
The latter is in career-best form, but is off-contract at the end of this season.
Gould is "not real worried" about where the new recruit plays in the short-term.
"That's really the coach and the coaching staff's thing there," he added.
"He is very versatile, he's played fullback, five-eighth and halfback. I'm not real worried about where he plays in the short-term. He's a talented player, and I know he's going be a very good player, and we'd like to be part of his development.
"What I do know is, you win comps with talented players."
