The 2025 State of Origin series is upon us.

Selection decisions quickly start to dominate conversations once the NRL starts and this year has been no different for the Blues.

Michael Maguire left after just one year in charge to take the reins at Brisbane, which left the state looking for a new coach.

NSW opted to go back to the future in their choice with Laurie Daley now on deck.

The Sporting News confirms the New South Wales side for the Origin opener on May 28 at Suncorp Stadium.

NSW Blues team news:

Laurie Daley stayed solid at fullback, selecting the incumbent Dylan Edwards to set aside his up-and-down form in club land and make a statement in Origin.

Daley continued to pick-and-stick from Michael Maguire's 2024 side in the outside backs with Brian To'o, Zac Lomax and Stephen Crichton all getting a start for the Blues.

Latrell Mitchell will play left centre after his magical run of form, including his 50 plus metre field goal in the rain to win the game against the Broncos in round ten.

The debate over who will play in the halves for New South Wales in game one is now over. Mitchell Moses gets the nod over Jarome Luai and will partner Nathan Cleary at Suncorp.

Two changes have been made to the starting forward pack with Mitch Barnett and Isaah Yeo coming in for the injured Jake Trbojevic and Cameron Murray.

Connor Watson retains the number 14 jersey, with Spencer Leniu and Hudson Young returning on the bench.

Max King will make his State of Origin debut after an incredible start to the season which has taken the Bulldogs to the top of the premiership ladder.

On the extended bench, Campbell Graham will serve as cover for the outside backs amid Crichton's issue with a cork. And he has been named as 18th man.
