NRL tips for this weekend: Betting preview, predictions and odds for Round 17 image

We have a full, eight-game NRL slate to look forward to this weekend.

Just four points separate the teams sitting from 5th to 16th, so wins feel even more valuable at this stage of the season.

The Sporting News delivers its predictions and best bets for select Round 17 matches in the NRL — all odds per bookmaker Sportsbet.

Panthers vs. Bulldogs prediction, tip, best bet

Are the Panthers back?

That's what the entire league wants to know after they beat the Warriors in New Zealand last week with an understrength squad.

Now, with their Origin stars on deck, Penrith have a good chance of knocking off the ladder leaders.

The Bulldogs, however, continue to deliver this season.

Fresh off a bye, their physicality should be enough in this one.

Prediction: Bulldogs by 10

Best bet: Bulldogs -2.5 ($1.91)

Broncos vs. Warriors prediction, tip, best bet

The Broncos recorded an impressive comeback win over the Sharks last week.

This arguably papered over the cracks, though, with Brisbane putting in a dismal first-half showing.

If they fail to fire from the get-go, expect the Warriors to make them pay.

While their performance against the Panthers last week was underwhelming, they've proven their ability to bounce back this season.

Prediction: Warriors by 8

Best bet: Warriors to win first half ($2.40)

Storm vs. Sharks prediction, tip, best bet

Cronulla got the better of Melbourne when they faced off at Shark Park earlier this season.

However, confidence at the Shire club could be low after a collapse in Brisbane last week.

Melbourne haven't lost at AAMI Park this season, which makes it very hard to tip against them.

We're expecting a narrow win, even if Craig Bellamy's side haven't been overly convincing in 2025.

Prediction: Storm by 6

Best bet: Storm 1-12 ($2.85)
