South Sydney and St George Illawarra will kick off proceedings on Thursday night, with the two injury-hit sides scrapping for the two competition points.

Penrith dropped out of the top four last week following a loss to Melbourne and now face another blockbuster clash against the ladder-leading Canberra Raiders.

The double-header on Friday night will conclude with the Storm and Canterbury squaring off in a game pitting second and third against each other.

The Dolphins and Manly are situated outside the top eight and are in must-win territory, if they want to play finals, when they take centre stage in the first game of a triple-header on Saturday.

The Gold Coast will try to escape off the bottom of the ladder when they host New Zealand before Sydney Roosters take on Parramatta at CommBank Stadium.

On Sunday, Newcastle will be desperate to avoid a seventh loss in a row when they face the daunting task of stopping Reece Walsh's Brisbane Broncos.

Finally, the round will wrap up at Leichhardt Oval where the Wests Tigers will welcome North Queensland as they attempt to claim their third victory on the bounce.
