NRL tips for this weekend: Betting preview, predictions and odds for Round 10 image

With the chaos of Magic Round now over, it's back to business in the NRL.

Just two competition points cover the teams placed between 5th and 13th, so the ladder could look entirely different by the end of the weekend.

Below are The Sporting News' predictions and best bets for selected Round 10 matches — all odds per bookmaker Sportsbet.

Parramatta Eels vs. Dolphins prediction, tip, best bet

This is an intriguing match-up that's hard to predict.

We're predicting plenty of points in this clash, with neither team shy near the try-line.

Both sides have also conceded at least 20 points in their last three games.

As for the result, cases can be made either way. A lacklustre Eels forward pack may be the deciding factor, so we're leaning towards the Dolphins.

Prediction: Dolphins by 4

Best bet: Over 48.5 points ($1.90)

South Sydney Rabbitohs vs. Brisbane Broncos prediction, tip, best bet

Both teams will be desperate for a win in this match, but for different reasons.

The Bunnies are riding a four-match losing streak and face a tough task against the Broncos.

Crucially, they have star fullback Latrell Mitchell and starting halfback Jamie Humphreys back on deck for this one.

As for Brisbane, they need to bounce back from a big loss to the Panthers at Magic Round.

Their confidence may have taken a hit, so getting back on track as they push for a top-four spot will be key.

If we're looking for the biggest difference between the two teams, it would be the halves, so we're tipping the Broncos to get the job done convincingly.

Prediction: Broncos by 20

Best bet: Broncos 13+ ($2.03)

North Queensland Cowboys vs. Penrith Panthers prediction, tip, best bet

Things seemed to fully click for the Panthers last week as they stunned the Broncos on their own turf.

If they can play anywhere close to that level in Round 10, it’s hard to see how they don’t win.

The Cowboys, meanwhile, have overcome a slow start to put themselves in the top-eight fight.

Notably, they’ve scored at least 20 points in each of their last five matches.

It could be a high-scoring one on Saturday, and we’re tipping Panthers – boosted by the return of Brian To’o – to win in a shootout.

Prediction: Panthers by 8

Best bet: Both teams to score 20 points ($2.20)

Melbourne Storm vs. Wests Tigers prediction, tip, best bet

Despite falling to the Raiders with an undisciplined performance at Magic Round, the Storm enter this clash as heavy favourites.

Craig Bellamy’s side typically bounces back strongly after a defeat, but the Tigers will not be pushovers.

The joint venture have been somewhat inconsistent this campaign, although they are almost always up for the fight.

A win away from home against Melbourne may be a tall ask, but expect the Tigers to be physical and challenge them for 80 minutes.

Prediction: Storm by 2

Best bet: Tigers +14.5 ($1.90)
